On 25 April (11:56 local time), a 7.8 magnitude earthquake which struck Nepal killed more than 8,000 people and destroyed nearly 300,000 houses. Two weeks later, on 12 May (12:50 local time), a new earthquake measuring 7.3 magnitude struck Nepal,176 km NE of Kathmandu in Dolakha District, increasing the damages and affected areas. Currently, Nepal government is very active in the rescue, treatment, relief, rehabilitation of victims and restoration of physical infrastructure damaged by the earthquake. Money received from the Government of Nepal or from any other national and international sources for the purpose of relief is deposited into Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund and is solely used for the purpose of providing relief to the affected people.
