- Yakima River Watershed Proposal Advisory Committee volunteers needed 08/08/2011
- The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) is seeking volunteers interested in appointment to a citizen-based policy committee which will critically evaluate an ecosystem restoration and enhancement proposal that has been included in the preliminary Integrated Water Resources Management Plan (IWRMP) for the Yakima River Basin. The advisory committee will work closely with a selected consultant to prepare recommendations in document form to the BOCC for consideration. The County intends to submit comments regarding this component of the IWRMP for the Yakima River Basin to the Washington State Department of Ecology during the formal Environmental Impact Statement process. The work product of this advisory committee is intended to provide the basis for those remarks.

- Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office Pro-Act Team seized three ounces of Heroin after a traffic stop Monday in Kittitas County.

- Kittitas County Public Health Department Receives Grant to Focus on Community Health Improvement 07/26/2011
- The Kittitas County Public Health Department (KCPHD) was selected by the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) to receive grant funding to complete a comprehensive community health improvement process. This process will help prepare the health department for the new, voluntary, national accreditation process for public health departments due to launch in September. This funding will help the health department do a community health assessment and a community health improvement plan, two of the three projects that every health department must complete before applying for accreditation. KCPHD is among 12 local health departments across the nation to receive this award.

- 73 year old Heide Rogers was located at a motel outside Ogden Utah this morning.
- NEW BOARD OF HEALTH MEMBER CHOSEN 07/18/2011
- Dr. John Asriel, MD has been chosen to replace Dr. Don Solberg, MD on the Kittitas County Board of Health. Dr. Solberg served on the Board for nearly 15 years and recently resigned his position to focus on his work as the Chief Medical Officer for Kittitas Valley Community Hospital.
- Vantage house fire possibly linked to death of homeowner 07/11/2011
- Kittitas County Sheriff's Office and the Fire Marshal are investigating reports that the owner of a home in Vantage lit himself on fire after dousing his body in gasoline in the attached garage, which ultimately destroyed the entire home. His wife and three children escaped unharmed.

- Kittitas County Sheriff's Swift-Water Rescue Team recovered the body of Lyvben Gankova after it was spotted by a KIRO 7 News Helicopter.
- New Construction Ground Breaking 06/30/2011
- Kittitas County is increasing the size of their jail, but not taxes. The project will kick off with a ground breaking ceremony on Tuesday July 5, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kittitas County Courthouse. The ground breaking ceremony will take place in the courtyard, which is the location of the new jail pod. The project is a unique and creative way which will reduce construction costs and increase operational efficiency.
- Two 16 year old High School Students Die in Carsh 06/16/2011
- Three local students crashed on Coleman Road around Midnight. Two died at the scene and the third was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center.
- Human Remains Identified as missing Seattle Woman 06/03/2011
- The Skeletal remains found in a shallow grave on the Suncadia Resort Property near Ronald Washington have been identified as 22 year old Kerry M. May (Hardy), last seen in 1972 near the Capitol Hill are of Seattle.
- EHV-1 Update for the Kittitas Valley Event Center 05/27/2011
- When the current EHV-1 outbreak began, horse owners were initially advised to avoid nonessential transport of their animals to reduce the risk of, exposure to, or spread of the virus among the horse population. Based on current recommendations from the Washington State Department of Agriculture, the Kittitas Valley Event Center is introducing two policies to minimize risk for all users.
- Nelson Siding Road Improvements Public Meeting 05/19/2011
- The Kittitas County Department of Public Works is hosting a public meeting on June 2, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. to discuss improving Nelson Siding Road, a construction project scheduled to begin in 2012. Persons attending this public meeting will be able to talk to County Public Works staff about this project. Washington State Department of Transportation staff will also be there to discuss I-90 construction projects in Upper County.
- Road Closures and access permits from the Sheriff's Office 05/19/2011
- Kittitas County Sheriff's Office has confirmed the Manastash will be closed to vehicle traffic through the Memorial Weekend. Residents requiring access can obtain free permits from the Sheriff's Office.
- Flood Damage and Road Closures 05/17/2011
- Commissioners declare state of emergency due to flooding in Kittitas County. Sheriff activates Emergency Operations Center. Public meeting set for 6:00 PM. tonight at the Ellensburg Event Center. Damage to transportation infrastructure, private property, power and gas lines. Some homes are cut off due to driveways washed out and changes in water-course location. Roads and recreational areas closed.
- Volunteers come out in force to combat flood issues in Kittitas County 05/16/2011
- On Sunday, Kittitas County Emergency Management, Fire, Emergency Services and Public works personnel were dealing with flood issues Several streets in Ellensburg were turned into rivers and many county roads had water over them. Many homes had water in them or fast approaching.

- The Emergency Management Division of the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office, upper county fire departments and Kittitas County Public Works continue to monitor the flooding issues in Kittitas County.
