Tip #1 – Traditional search techniques won’t find email address
The most common way to locate personal information is by searching public records. But searching public records is not an effective way for email lookup because they are not considered part of a public record. Don’t waste your time or your money on these types of searches!
Tip #2 – Free email address finder
Email addresses are used for on-line communication so what could be better when conducting an email address search than using the Internet? You will find page after page of links to free email address search. Most require you to provide, at minimum, the first and last name. If you can provide more information, then you should do so. The more information, the more refined the search. An excellent way to find techniques for search is by visiting Email Finder.im, no tricks, just excellent information!
Tip #3 – Determine the cost of an email address search
Most sites attract visitors by offering a free email search. You enter what you know about the person and bam, you get the following message, “Your search request located no matches” followed by, “try these other email address search links”.
So you try, only to find out that for more in-depth searches, you’ll have to pay. Of course, the more in-depth the search, the more it costs. If you wish to pay, then go ahead; just look for secure payment capabilities and read all fine print before giving your credit card so you know exactly what you’re getting.
Tip #4 – E-mail address finder companies use 1 of 6 email directories
Regardless of which web site you use to conduct your email address search, each likely utilizes one or more of the six Internet directories currently available. They are Yahoo, Who-Where, IAF, InfoSpace, Bigfoot, and Switchboard. Bigfoot and IAF both have reverse search capabilities.
Tip #5 – Try change of email address search services
Another way to find email address is to check with the on line email change of address services. Many people do register changes to their email addresses because these services are free. You do need to know the “old” email address of the person you’re looking for. There’s no guarantee this method will produce a good email address but it’s worth a try.
Tip #6 – Never use an email address extractor / finder for marketing
There are legitimate ways of collecting email addresses for marketing purposes but conducting an email address search is not one of them. In fact if you do collect names this way and then use the names to solicit your products or services, you likely will be accused of SPAMMING.
If caught spamming, there will be consequences. When you need to find email address, the obvious choice is the Internet. When you consider that a single person likely has and has had multiple email addresses, finding someone’s email address can be tedious. But be patient and you might just get the email address you are looking for!

There are a lot of ways to do research for someone’s email. The first thing I do is go to google and try the persons full name. Sometimes you’ll find data in that search that helps you to the next step. Google things like their name, forward, backwards and abbreviated are different things to try.
You can put their first name and any nick name you know they use. This may bring back their facebook page or other public page. Sometimes the profile won’t be locked and you can contact a friend of theirs to relay a message and have them contact you (to see if they are the right person). Many of the reverse email look up sites are free. You can use sites like classmates to find them by name and if they got married and had a last name change it will show the new name (old name in parenthesis). At that point you go back to google and search again.
You can also try the reverse search directories (free ones) using variations of popular email sites like gmail, yahoo, aol, etc… i.e. do a reverse lookup for john.doe@gmail or
yahoo, or hotmail etc…Hope this helps.

I wanted to share a way to prevent companies from from finding your address in emails. I received one today that had a ton of addresses inside the to field.
1. Every one of the email addresses of the persons to whom you individually sent this message is accessible to data mining programs and anyone else receiving the message.
2. As can be seen in the original message the full email addresses are visible for everyone that the orginiating person sent the original message too. This enables anyone getting a copy of that message to copy and use all those “live” addresses at their whim and without permission of the people on the list.
3. The amount of space,and time taken by the program in just printing that list of names and email addresses could well be saved by everyone down the chain because it prints every time the message gets forwarded. If one actually wanted to print a Hard copy of the message then one can add the cost of paper and ink to the list. May not seem like much on one message but multiply it over time and this could amount to a considerable waste and cost.
4 Please delete the details of the sender and “cc” email addresses BEFORE hitting send when forwarding messages like this. Once in the “Forward” mode the program allows you to scroll down through the preceding messages and do this.
5 BETTER YET – when sending out or forwarding these types of messages put all the recipients email addresses into the “BCC” (“BLIND” CC) box and leave the “TO” and “CC” boxes empty. The program will then individually address your message to each person in the “BCC” list and it will appear on their screens with only two email addresses capable of being seen. Yours as the sender and and theirs as the “TO” recipient. ALL OF THE REST OF THE LIST does NOT appear nor does it print therefore it cannot be accessed by any malicious program out there looking to ‘snag’ email addresses.
6. The reason I have sent you this request?. I like jokes (what the email I received today was all about) just like most people but because others have forwarded emails without editing out visible lists of recipients I receive well over 200 emails a day from various legitimate and “spam” type senders – the latter group collected my email address from somewhere where it was visible in a list of recipients on an email that they were able to see – and I could better use the extra time that it takes me having to sort through and delete the trash I don’t ask for, want or need. Coupled with that there are a number of ways that access to my email address (or yours) can be harmful to you when that addresses falls into the wrong hands.
7. Identity theft is a growing business and can happen to anyone. There are a lot of crooks out there including on the internet. Please protect yourself, your friends and acquaintances by concealing or removing their visible email addresses.before you forward these types of ‘general’ emails.
I hope that I have not offended any of you by making these points but security on the internet is getting to be more and more important and so much can be accomplished if the originators and forwarders of message just put a little thought into the whole process.
