workaholic

A person who has a compulsive, obsessive, or unrelenting need to work, especially at the expense of other aspects of their life. Based on the word "alcoholic," the term for a person who is addicted to alcohol. Ever since she opened up her own business, Claire has turned into a total workaholic. I barely even see her anymore! My dad was such a workaholic that he became incredibly depressed when he was forced to retire.
